Kammas, also known as Kammavarus, are one of the prominent castes found largely in AP, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Traditionally warriors and peasants, a large number of families have relocated to urban centers in India and abroad. Kammas are politically active, especially in the coastal Andhra region and parts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. They follow the customs and traditions similar to those followed by other communities in AP.
